eBay Science Data equals HAPPY ME!

This little overdue post is about the eBay 2016 Fall Seller Update. Here’s a screenshot:

Notice that I pointed the red arrows to my favorite parts? Of course you did.

eBay is finally bringing the data and the science of selling into the light. Not that eBay didn’t have any of this before this seller update, but it’s been kinda hard to get to the data within your eBay seller account before this point. Remember when I talked about eBay’s new Seller hub? That’s when eBay started bringing your seller’s data right in front of you.

I have been an advocate of selling scientifically based on data, whether it’s collected within your account or from the entire eBay eco-system. Many tools within eBay will show you just that, however an extensive source of data can be found through my number one source of eBay data, a company/service called Terapeak.

Terapeak has been collecting eBay data for years, you can check on your own data, the entire eBay marketplace, and even spy on your competition. All in a nice and easy to read data sheets.

I can not even begin to describe the humongous amount of POWER that I have combining both eBay’s own data and Terapeak’s historic data that helps me decide on my next successful selling strategies.

If you are an eBay seller or thinking of becoming one, I highly recommend that you signup with eBay to get their quarterly seller update newsletter.

eBay Seller Hub Is Here

SH-Laptop-Experience

Over the weekend I received early access to the all new eBay Seller Hub on 2 of my eBay accounts.

If you know anything about me, I am a numbers guy, and eBay Seller Hub is the new analytics and business marketing interface from eBay.

It took over 2 weeks for it to work and analyze all my sales and marketing campaign within eBay (on the back end), however, late Friday night I was able to see the results.

I used to use a few 3rd party services and go to multiple pages within eBay, not any more.

The new free interface aggregate all my sales, traffic, marketing, and it even deducts the fees automatically to show my net sales, not only that, I got super useful insights and eBay even gave me some recommendations that (from my own experience) I know it’s actually good recommendations.

If you do not have it yet, you can request early access right here.

It even breaks down my view by sales trends and country, I am really impressed so far, not only that, they will keep enhancing it though 2016 as well.

Enjoy the new Seller Hub.

P.S. Tomorrow we will be announcing something we haven’t done in almost 8 years, it’s eBay related, and it’s AWESOME! Stay tuned.

eBay Partner Network (Updated) #WIWG #2

ebaypn

Formally known as the eBay affiliate program, that was once ran by affiliate giant CJ.com, The (relatively new) eBay Partner Network program is a way for affiliates to make commission by driving traffic into non other than, eBay.

Towards the end of April 2009, the program introduced many new tools making life much easier on the eBay Partner Network site.

When eBay first started their in-house affiliate program, I was lucky to be part of the eBay developer community, I understood RSS linking (and made tons of easy cash integrating it with Twitter and TwitterFeeds as I explained in a 4 hours class on my online  school of making money at wahol.com), I also knew flash, AJAX and PHP, therefore, I didn’t have to wait for the support team to fix bugs or any programing issues from their side, instead, I fixed it my self and started making money instantly. Some of you guys will remember seeing the biggest banner I had on this same blog for eBay shopping. That was a big part of my income from this blog.

Now with the totally renovated user interface on the eBay Partner Network site, links, banners, RSS feeds, flash and other apps (Like the facebook app) is much easier, in fact it’s so easy, you will be done setting it up in seconds (Also tested with an 11 years old kid by his mom to see how easy it  is) Thank you Ashley from wahol.com for this info 😉

Here are the recent changes in the program or as they call it (upgrades):

  • New functionality for the Link Generator tool
  • The ability to link your eBay account with your eBay Partner Network account
  • A new way to calculate earnings per click (they are now calculated as earnings per one click vs. per 100 clicks)
  • New business model descriptions (to help us provide you with better customer service tailored to your model when possible)

The upgrades were released on May 1st. However, there was some bad news for some partners.

They have also announced that as of July 1st, there will no longer accept 3 business models in the programs, that includes: tier-2 paid search, ad networks, and sub-affiliates.

For that, I will say: BOOO to the network, this means that some third party apps (facebook or mobile apps) will not have the benefit of making a commission based on second tier, and that really sucks in my opinion, but, after all, it is eBay playground, and to be honest, I don’t think eBay needs affiliates to drive traffic to the site any more, but… That’s only my opinion 😉
